Status Summary : WebXion inhouse Portals are working smoothly. However partial dataloss for customers who didnot avail backup services and AMC Services. As this was CPanel Level Global Ransomware Attack that means all data and OS was fully corrupted and recovery was not possible. Only reinstallation via backup was possible. Hence organization that had availed backup services managed to restore database.
Recommendation : All business are recommended to avail Disaster Recovery Statergy by their respective inhouse IT Department. As in event of server harddisk failure or data corruption due to any reason including cyber attack. Only way to restore database and application files is via Backup Service.
Alert / Notification :
- For client websites and portals for which client had not availed any Data Backup Service along with website hosting plan, ownership of loss of data or database is beyond WebXion scope of work. As Data Backup involves configuration and setup of dedicated Backup server and backup services and both and paid plans. Default definition of Webhosting only includes providing hosting of website and database. Application or database backup is not part of default hosting plan in both Shared and Dedicated Server package.
- For clients that have not availed Website or Portal AMC service post go live. If website or portal stop working partial or completely due to End-Of-Live Cycle of Server compatibility or php version or Operating system on which the website or application was originally built is technically out of scope of support for WebXion Team. And in such cases fresh new application development is only option. AMC Scope includes regularly updating code of website or solving bugs in existing project. However if there is any major upgrade then in such cases new project development is only option as technology get obsolete with time and its no more recommended to be used in production applications.

Status Summary: All Portals are restored.
Details:
There is partial data loss of campaigns history from 18th April 2026 till 30th April 2026 on selected applications only. However the balance history is 100% uptodate and accurate. We have upscaled our IT Security measure and backup stratergies to avoid similar incident in future.

Impact : As of late April 2026, cPanel & WHM is facing an exceptionally high level of cyber threat due to a critical, actively exploited authentication bypass vulnerability (CVE-2026-41940), with a CVSS score of 9.8. The flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to gain root-level access to the web hosting management system, placing millions of websites and servers at risk of complete compromise.
Details:
We are currently investigating intermittent slow response times affecting some hosted websites. Our engineering team is actively working to get necessary security patches implemented.

Current Threat Status (As of May 1, 2026)- Widespread Impact: Around 1.5 million to over 2 million cPanel instances are estimated to be exposed to this risk, according to Shodan searches.
- Full System Compromise: Attackers can gain root-level access to the WebHost Manager (WHM) or cPanel interface, allowing them to:
- Steal customer data and databases.
- Install backdoors, web shells, or ransomware.
- Modify or delete websites and email accounts.
